Damn You Autocorrect! →
While these are very funny, I have to wonder how many are actually Freudian slips hastily covered up by invoking the autocorrect defense.

Thoughts on the Nature of Beauty
As a society, it seems that we’ve become obsessed with preservation. We venture out into the world with our digital cameras and video recorders and seek to capture precious moments to keep forever, like a civilization of lepidopterologists wielding nets and chasing butterflies to pin up in our cases back home. To be sure, even in motionless death, the fragility and brilliant coloration of...

Life Lessons from an Ice Storm
As I was clearing off my car this morning, I managed to slice my hand three or four times on the surprisingly sharp layer of ice that had formed on top of the snow. After my initial reaction (what the @#$#, you %$#^ing stupid wintry mix), I started to think about it, and realized that the situation here mirrored something very common in life. That is, that under the right conditions, something...

Inisight, Creativity, and Laughter →
I wish this had been written when I was still in school. Then all that time spent watching and listening to comedians could have been re-classified as “preparing to study and do homework” (see the article’s second page for the reasoning behind that).

People have different ways of celebrating victory. In some countries, people fire automatic weapons into the sky (and dodge raining bullets afterwards, I assume), many people are content to pop a few corks and shower people with champagne. High fiving and cheering are also popular standbys. This particular celebration’s new to me, but who knows, maybe it’ll start a new trend.

Off the Beaten Path with Google Maps
Over the past few years I’ve really gotten used to using Google Maps on my phone to get around. Not quite the same as having a GPS, but still useful. Lately though, I’ve started paying more attention to the map part, and rather than running ruts in the same old highway routes that I’m used to being led down, I’ve started plotting my own course on some of the back roads and...

This here’s a great example of some fantastic recycled instrument drumming. And possibly a glimpse of my future profession if things keep heading the way they’ve been going.
